Gambling trains the brain
to chase unpredictable rewards

Chess trains it to think.

Our Purpose

Chess vs. Gambling introduces chess as a constructive replacement for gambling behaviour. Preserving uncertainty and excitement while removing financial risk and exploitative systems. Progress in chess is earned, measurable, and cumulative, reinforcing long-term thinking over impulse.

Our mission is simple: help people trade chance-based dopamine for earned growth, structure, and control.

Why join Chess vs. Gambling?

A skill-based activity that rewards focus and patience. Learn at your own pace, celebrate your improvement, and build a skill that stays with you.

I'm Andy

I struggled with gambling addiction from the age of 18 into my mid-twenties, while trying to raise a family, get an education, and find my way in the world.

Gambling took years of my life that I can’t get back. That experience is why I started Chess vs Gambling: to build the kind of connection and support that can help someone take their next step.

I want this community to be somewhere people can find connection and support. A place to start, even when the next step feels uncertain. If it helps one person make a positive change, that matters.
